rssINFORMATION FOR FANS WITH DISABILITIES

Many disabled race fans attend the Brickyard 400 each year thanks in part to the great efforts of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway to provide facilities to accommodate their needs. Specially designed seating areas, ADA bathrooms and well designed handicap parking lots make it possible for disabled fans to come to the track and enjoy the race. If you or someone in your party have a disability and need handicap facilities, please review the information on this page to better acquaint yourself with the options available to you.
Let’s start from the seats and work backwards. It only makes sense for race fans to start with where they want to sit and then make plans to get there. So, we’ll start with seating available for wheelchair access. To begin with, all grandstands with “Terrace” in the name are on the inside of the track. All other grandstands are on the outside of the track. The following grandstands provide wheelchair platform views of the race track:
· Northeast Vista (3rd turn and backstretch)
· North Vista
· Paddock
· Pit Road Terrace
· South Terrace (wheelchair section)
SUMMARY OF SEATING OPTIONS
All the grandstands with wheelchair platforms provide ramps or an elevator for easy access. All the viewing platforms are at track level except for the Pit Road Terrace wheelchair platform, which sits on top of the old F1 garages. Our inside tip on these seating selections is that the Pit Road Terrace Wheelchair platform seating offers the best views of the track. The least desirable views for wheelchair seating is in the South Terrace wheelchair section on the north side of the tunnel entrance.
While we strongly recommend finding seats that are as high up as possible, there is something to be said for track level viewing. The best way to experience and appreciate the incredible power and speed of the race cars is to sit at track level right next to the security fence. The only way you could get a better sense of the action would be to drive the car yourself. This is an amazing experience and one that you should experience at least once.
RESTROOM FACILITIES
All restrooms at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway are ADA compliant. ADA compliant bathroom facilities provide at least one wide stall with handrails and wide door jams. If you require a Family Bathroom for any reason, you will need to be close to or in the Pit Road Terrace grandstand. The only Family Bathrooms at the IMS are behind the Pit Road Terrace grandstands in what is known as Legend’s Row.
